Since the beginning of Crown Point Candles, folks have been asking if wood wicks were an option and now - THEY ARE!

But that's not the end of the story. Turns out, it's the opportunity I've been looking for to give back to the people and the planet. You see, wood wicks are held up by a large metal tab. Unfortunately, this allows for a fair amount of wax to be to be left at the end of a burn.

The challenge now was to reduce this waste in a way that did not incur cost. This is, after all, a small one woman show!

The solution washed over me as quickly as the tide in the Bay of Fundy. (I'm from Nova Scotia!)

The answer was ROCKS!

Rocks placed in the bottom of the Crown Jars will displace quite a bit of wax! And rocks are FREE!

Are they?

After giving this quite a bit of thought, I came to the conclusion that if I were to source rocks from the shores of Lake Ontario (where I live now) I'd actually be stealing them. Right?

That's how I see it. I don't own those rocks at the shore. So in order for me to use stolen rocks I feel the need to make reparations. That's when I started looking for a water-based organization to give a portion of all wood wick candles to and I found that in WATER FIRST NGO

You don't need to buy a candle from me in order to support them, you can donate directly if you wish! They are doing tremendous things that benefit us ALL!

$10 from each rock-bottomed wood wick Crown jar goes directly to them for their tireless efforts in water conservation and education.

Thank you for helping support this VERY worthy cause!!

It is very important to care for your wick. This is easily done by wick trimming. Gently knock off the tip of the wick with a BBQ lighter or cut it to ¼ inch and you ELIMINATE black soot completely! Our metal free cotton wicks are 6mm as opposed to the standard 3.9mm to ensure safety for you and your family.
